The School Day
Our school day is organised in such a way to provide maximum time for learning across a balanced curriculum.
Breakfast Club
We offer our children a friendly and positive start to the day by offering them breakfast club which starts at 8:00am. Here they can enjoy a healthy breakfast in a calm positive place helping them prepare for a good day of learning.
Before School Learning
We are committed to helping every child feel welcomed, valued and successful from their very first day at our school. For pupils who are new to English, we provide a range of targeted support programmes designed to develop confidence, build communication skills and ensure a smooth transition into school life.
Our tailored intervention groups help children acquire and practise the vocabulary, language structures and social communication skills needed to access the curriculum and become active members of the school community.
School Day Begins
Our school day begins with a Soft Start, helping children settle calmly and positively into their learning.
When the school gates open at 8:40am, children go directly to their classrooms where they are welcomed by staff and begin a planned Soft Start activity. These activities are designed to provide a purposeful and engaging start to the day, allowing children to practise key skills, develop independence and prepare for learning.
The Soft Start approach helps to:
- Create a calm and orderly start to the school day
- Support children's wellbeing and readiness to learn
- Reinforce key learning through short, focused activities
- Encourage independence, responsibility and positive learning habits
- Maximise learning time from the start of the day
Mornings
Our mornings are dedicated to mathematics and English learning. We also hold collective worship/assemblies four days a week and a Mass on Fridays. These are spaces for children to learn about current event/affairs, celebrate festivals, share learning, sing and reflect and pray.
Children also enjoy a 15 minute break each morning.
Lunch Time
Children enjoy a freshly prepared, nutritious school meal each day in a happy and welcoming environment. Lunchtime is an important part of the school day, providing opportunities for children to relax, socialise and develop positive relationships with their peers.
We make full use of our playground and outdoor facilities, with a range of exciting activities available for children to enjoy. Our staff are trained to support high-quality play and encourage children to be active, engaged and inclusive during lunchtime.
Activities available include:
- Basketball
- Four Square
